In the shadow of all its history,
in the sorrow behind its sparkle,
I sprinkle fairy lights on the drying roots
of this dying tree.
At the summit of all its beauty,
from the forest freshy felled,
I place a blood red rose on this tree
cut down from hope.

Things are more intense this time of year. I like the feel of the piece, as it contrasts with the beauty of the tree.
This year, the first time in 5 years, we stayed home for Christmas so we put up a tree. It’s a very beautiful tree and I’m glad we put it up, but it holds no memories. Can’t do that yet.
Best wishes, Damian!
