UP IN DUBLIN, STREET SCENES

  1. Lots of horses! Very different horses. Is the man/horses shot a different take on Apollo? And I haven’t seen mer-horses before. The girl in the water.. wow! I must remember to tell Nigel about the recycled materials sculpture on the end of the building. Ok, NOW to making tea!!

    • Hehehe, the sculpture is called the chariot of life and it’s outside the Irish Life center, it’s a bronze sculpture by Oisin Kelly. The girl is Anna Livia, the personification of the the River Liffey and was created for the Dublin millennium in 1988 and was originally in O’Connell street but she got laughed at and rather abused (renamed the Flouzie in the jacuzzi) so she was moved down river, literally, and now sits in this little park near Heuston Station, she is a character called Anna Livia Plurabelle in James Joyce’s’ Finnegans Wake ☘️☘️

      • How fascinating! Thank you. Nigel due in for that tea any minute so I’ll have this post on the screen for him to look at 🙂

    • I was truly the tourist this trip, even got approval from the family to have me time in the city! And I had a tourist map! It’s been 23 years so I really don’t know how to get from a to b, but now I know a little more and I also now want to know more, appreciate more of where I came from, of the city that started me! It has so much more to offer than I realized as a kid who only wanted to see the rest of the world!Hope you are keeping well and sleeping more 😘☘️

  2. So much to see! I still want to visit and while I would like to see Dublin, I would also live to visit the smaller towns/villages and hopefully find some open mic poetry going on?

    • Well that’s my intention too so as soon as I discover them I will let you know, heading back in two weeks and will be over in Galway this time and catching up with some more talented writers to hear what’s going on ☘️

  3. Love your photo journeys. Having yet to get to Ireland, it was nice to see Dublin through your eyes. I see Tuam and Galway through photos often as a friend of mine returns every year to see her family. Beautiful country.
I hope you are well and enjoying all that life offers. Best.

    • Oh it’s always so good to hear from you, huge hugs and greetings and a few shamrocks on their way to you. I am doing very well right now and hope you are too! Will be in Galway in a few weeks to check out that beautiful part of the country! Re-discovering the homeland is turning out to be so worthwhile. Maybe it just took age to appreciate it! 🤗🤗☘️☘️
