I caught myself
captive
in chains
in a cold corner
of comfortless
complacency,
unconscious
to the cost
on my character
as I cut the cord
to connection.

Between the lines and through the lens…
I caught myself
captive
in chains
in a cold corner
of comfortless
complacency,
unconscious
to the cost
on my character
as I cut the cord
to connection.

Connection to conviction? For me anyway, comfortless complacency would insulate me from connecting with my convictions. Thanks, your poem made me think and question, and I really enjoyed the alliteration as well!
