Seemingly not a reference to its water depths, but because the 40 foot Calvary swam there regularly in the day (without their horses). It is now and has long been the spot for swimmers all year round, there were lots of people out there last week, swimming. Itโs big and popular on Christmas Day. The final photo is actually a sauna (Fad Saoil- what looks like a big barrel wagon- the last Photo) which is located right next to it. โ๏ธ
Sorry about that. The Martello tower where our black panther resides is the James Joyce tower, also a museum, it is here where Joyce set his opening to Ulysses. In the novel, Haines, in the tower, has nightmares about a panther. Later on, when we meet Leopold Bloom, he has a black cat that is very panther like. Doesnโt remove the shock but gives the feline a little background โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ

I can’t believe people still do the forty foot!

And they were in there, the other day, in the wind, bless them and their bravery!!!
Jane Dougherty
It’s something I really don’t understand. Why?????
deuxiemepeau
No a clue? And they actually looked a little blue getting out ๐ฅถ
Jane Dougherty
Do they get many deaths?
deuxiemepeau
๐๐๐๐๐ youโre very funny
Jane Dougherty
Serious!

So, for the ignorant one here, I wondered why it said forty foot–what is the forty foot?
Stunning photos, Damien!

Thank you for the explanation. I thought it was reference to the height of waves. ๐
deuxiemepeau
Oh, now that would have been cool, a bit of a tidal wave but still, would make a great photo ๐ค

Not to worry, I havenโt managed to read the entire novel, Iโm not sure anyone really has ๐คญ๐ค๐
