All tides,
like time,
trickle away,
all thoughts
are tempered towards forgotten,
all hold;
to the harbour of has been.
All waters
wash through rivers
to find the ocean.

We are water
washing through paths,
plotting our way
towards that dream
of paradise.

Today we are hope floating,
tomorrow; no more
than faded memories.

Build paradise
along the path
and not just in the dream.

The first time I read the last line I saw ‘and not just in the dream.’ Changes the sense completely.

Great poem Dami! SO also comments “I never enjoyed poetry as it never seemed to make sense or be relevant to a normal life but your poetry, your words, and the structure you put them in have real meaning.” Thanks from both of us 🙂

  Well that can just added the cake and the icing and the cherry to my weekend of mildly moving! Thank you both so much. I can’t express enough how much this brings me joy. My belief and joy of poetry is to make it relevant, accessible and uncomplicated. I want to read something and know what’s being said and not be left in the dark.   Well this comment from you both has just added the cake and icing and cherry to my weekend of slowly moving apartment! Time to add new colours to new walls! My love of poetry comes from the hope that it can be accessible to all, relevant and uncomplicated even if the subject is complicated. I want to ready poetry that I understand when I finish it and not be left in the dark corners. We have too many dark corners in life as it is. Thank you
