This poem is in response to Jane Dougherty’s Trilune challenge from http://www.janedougherty.wordpress.com. So check out her beautiful blog and join in…
A trilune is a poem of three stanzas of three lines of 3×3 syllables each (that’s 9 in case you were wondering), circling a central theme. The rhyme is on the third line of each stanza so you get a pattern of abc dec fgc.
Here’s my attempt:
One man promised to catch her the moon
to pull it down from the sky at night
but she feared that the stars would then die.
One man told her he’d buy her the moon
that money was never a problem
but she found out that this was a lie.
The last man never spoke of the moon
but held her as if she were the stars
so to him she never said goodbye.

I’m so pleased you had a go at this one, and a real beauty it is too. I love poems that tell a story.
Thanks Jane. So much fun! You’re inspiring!! Hope all is going well with the home- if you need any plumbing- I might not be the perfect choice- but who knows xx
Speaking of plumbing… How are you at cleaning out septic tanks?
You certainly know how to seduce Jane!!!
It’s a talent I’ve inherited 🙂
Must be from the Irish side!!😜😂
I only have Irish sides, so you might be onto something there 🙂

You told a beautiful story. Love this!
Thank you so much. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming by.
Lovely poem and story.
It reminds me of the song “Stars and Moon” from Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown. Do you know it?
It’s one of my favorite songs- although with Mr. Brown- it’s almost impossible to chose just one! I think it was lingering in my head when I wrote this!!!
Thanks for taking the time to read, DamiX
A lovely tale, I enjoyed it a lot.
Ah, how beautiful. Really beautiful. 😊
Thank you Imelda xx
